KUALA LUMPUR, 31 JULY 2025 – Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport BUKIT BINTANG CITY CENTRE (hereinafter referred to as the “LaLaport BBCC”) is setting a bold new course in city retail landscape with a vibrant revitalisation that blends unique Japanese culture and urban appeal. Leading the refresh is the introduction of Mitsui Outlet Park BUKIT BINTANG CITY CENTRE (hereinafter referred to as “Mitsui Outlet Park BBCC”), Malaysia’s first city-centre outlet concept, alongside the exclusive debut of Japanese brands, Japanese game and entertainment centre, and a dedicated pop-culture zone, the ACG BASE, all in one mall. More than just a rejuvenation, this evolution redefines the shopping experience at LaLaport BBCC, inviting shoppers and visitors to explore a distinctive mix of fashion, culture, entertainment and lifestyle right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

1. First-in-Malaysia City-Centre Outlet in Mall

LaLaport BBCC is raising the bar for urban retail with the launch of the country’s first city-centre outlet shopping precinct. Located on Level 3, Mitsui Outlet Park BBCC brings together stylish popular sports and active lifestyle, and fashion-forward brands, offering outlet prices without leaving the city. It is a fresh, fuss-free retail concept designed for savvy shoppers who enjoy the thrill of a good find in a central location.

 

Shoppers can explore over 30 participating brands, including adidas, Akemi Outlet, Elle, GEOX, Superdry, Kappa, Kickers, Lee, Li-Ning, Carlo Rino, Objet, Puma, SaSa, Skechers, Brooks, Sportsclick Outlet, Sun Paradise, Tuff, Under Armour, and more.

 

2. Malaysian Debut: Japanese Brands Make Their Mark

Bringing a slice of Japan’s retail charm to Kuala Lumpur, LaLaport BBCC now hosts an exclusive line-up of Japanese brands making their Malaysian debut. From premium handcrafted footwear and elevated basics to playful streetwear and minimalist lifestyle décor, each store showcases the distinct sensibility of modern Japanese wear and living, where style, comfort, and creativity meet finesse in everyday design.

 

Brands that opened in the third and fourth quarter of 2025 included artisanal shoemaker REGAL, Japanese lifestyle wear GLOBAL WORK, natural and feminine Japanese fashion earth music& ecology, and Japanese graphic art fused with wearable street fashion Over Print. When lifestyle and homeware brand 3COINS opens in August, these brands will join a host of other Japanese stores found only at LaLaport BBCC such as 9090, comcoca, and WEGO.

 

3. Beyond Shopping: A well-rounded mall to shop and travel

 

Japan’s Arcade Culture Arrives at LaLaport BBCC

Families and gaming enthusiasts can look forward to a brand-new entertainment experience with the opening of Molly Fantasy at LaLaport BBCC. The facility features one of the largest Pokémon Mezastar Stadium installations in Malaysia, where players can enjoy exciting multiplayer Pokémon battles. It is also home to Southeast Asia’s first officially certified Taiko no Tatsujin Dojo, giving fans of the popular rhythm game an authentic space to play and participate. Visitors can also explore one of the most extensive collections of amusement machines in Kuala Lumpur, including a wide selection of arcade games and claw machines carefully curated from Japan. 

 

Step Into the World of Anime, Comics and Gaming

Opening in phases in the coming months, LaLaport BBCC Level 2 will house ACG BASE as it transforms into a new hotspot for anime, comics and gaming (ACG) fans. A dedicated IP zone will take shape as the ultimate destination for pop culture lovers with various IP Concept stores to come lead by the highly anticipated arrival of Japan’s popular Animate store, now with a permanent home in the mall. The experience will be complemented by the upcoming Animate Café, a themed dining spot that brings fan-favourite character to life. ACG enthusiasts can also look forward to a vibrant mix of merchandise stores, IP-themed cafés, and restaurants across the mall, including Doko Koko Goods, Doko Koko Pick Up, Doko Koko Space, Dimension Pop Town, Kadokawa Gempak, NOT ONLY TOY, ORBcafe, Q POCKET, The Pink Room, and Xumi Goods.

 

4. A Renewed Expansion for a Fresh Shopping Experience


August marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter at LaLaport BBCC, with a wave of retail and cultural additions already transforming the space. And it doesn’t stop there, with more unique experiences on the horizon as the revitalisation continues to unfold throughout 2025.

 

In conjunction with the mall’s refreshed retail mix, LaLaport BBCC has lined up a variety of exciting activities in the coming months. Following the success of its pop-up store at LaLaport BBCC, Japan’s leading anime retailer Animate is opening a permanent outlet in the mall to meet strong fan demand. Known for its wide range of official anime, manga and game merchandise, the new store will offer an even greater selection of authentic collectibles and exclusive items.

Adding to the excitement, the new Animate Café will operate as a takeaway-only beverage counter, offering collaboration drinks inspired by popular anime, manga, games, and VTubers. The menu will rotate regularly allowing fans to enjoy a variety of themed beverages over time.

4. KL Welcomes a Sleek New Travel Hub  

LaLaport Transportation Hub (LTH)  - A new travel hub for travellers

LaLaport BBCC now features a new transportation facility, the LaLaport Transportation Hub (LTH), designed to offer comfort, safety, and convenience for travellers. Operating in phases starting mid-August, LTH will launch bus services to Singapore and Thailand, as well as shuttle services to KLIA and Subang Airport, with further service expansion planned in the near future. In addition to seamless transfers to the LRT and Monorail lines, LTH will also launch an on-demand ride-share shuttle service, “LaLaport mobi,” in partnership with Nadi Willer, a company with extensive transportation experience in both Malaysia and Japan. This new service will connect LTH with the Bukit Bintang and Mont Kiara areas. 


Operated by ASR, a seasoned transportation hub operator with extensive experience at KLIA2, LTH is managed with a focus on safety, comfort, and efficiency. To elevate the travel experience, LTH was developed in partnership with Semba Corporation, a firm known for its expertise in environmental design. Semba contributed to the terminal’s functional planning and overall design concept, helping to create a welcoming and practical transit space.

 

Travellers can also enjoy exclusive privileges through LaLaport’s Tourist Privilege programme, which offers attractive discounts and special deals at participating stores throughout the mall.
